Severi Salminen

I'm currently working in a very exciting project consisting of technologies like React, TypeScript, Redux, RxJS, Electron, Node, PouchDB/CouchDB, WebSocket APIs, InfluxDB, Docker and Terraform (AWS). This globally used sports application/service project has exposed me to complex and exciting tech stack, collaboration with other vendors and challenges of global usage of the application. I've also been privileged to be able to work with very talented colleagues.

As a summer employee I transformed a pre-existing open source project to fulfill the needs of the client. The project started by defining the scope and prioritizing the features with the client and ended with deploying the service in production. The development included creating user account syncing, creation and management in Node + PostgreSQL as well as frontend development in functional language Elm.

The topic of my Master's Thesis was Improving the Performance of a CouchDB Powered WebSocket API in Low-Quality Internet Conditions. I graduated with honors with a weighted grade average of 4.43 / 5.

The topic of my Bachelor's Thesis was ECMAScript 6 — vaikutus ylläpidettävyyteen ja käytön yleisyys.

I gave my diploma performance in the spring 2006 with excellent grades (5/5).
